Nong Shim Shrimp Crackers

As I mentioned before, Asian groceries are the jam. 20lb bags of rice, family size bottles of Sriracha, broccoli as big as your head, and bags of dried chicken feet are all available to you and your family to love and enjoy. I really like perusing the salty snack/candy aisle of my local Asian grocery for all the weird shit they offer such as hamburger hard candy, cabbage drops, and coffee gum. One of the lesser “that’s just fucking scary” snacks available are the Nong Shim Shrimp Crackers.  These things are simply fishy tasting wheat flour snacks. They’re like a cheese puff stripped of cheese powder and dunked in the aquarium. I don’t know about anyone else, but I don’t taste a damn bit of shrimp in these things. There’s really not anything “cracker-like” about this with the exception of calling it a “shrimp cracker” in hopes to trick white-folks into buying them. While Nong Shim’s Shrimp Crackers aren’t the tastiest things on the planet, they’re cheap (less than $1 a bag) and give you your fish fix for the day. But there’s also a Hot variety that’s pretty boss, and honestly it gives you more of an experience with your food. It’s kind of like pork rinds… the plain ones taste like plain ol’ ass, but the hot & spicy kind are pretty boss (when all you’re really getting is air with spiciness on it… but hey, I won’t judge)  Between the two I’d say get the hot Shrimp Crackers and EXPERIENCE your fishy-meal snack.
