My first review will be a combo. Pictured is Fanta Pineapple and Chester’s Chili Cheese Fries. I don’t drink pineapple soda often enough. Probably because I’m not a huge soda drinker these days, but I usually forget that pineapple soda exists. It’s one of those rare breeds that you kinda lump in the same category as something like “apple soda”. We don’t need to question the almighty pineapple flavor because now that I think of it, anything pineapple flavored I can remember having has been delicious. I was a bit disappointed to learn that it’s a Coca-Cola product, not that it’s a bad thing. I just pictured Fanta to be an authentic, real-sugar-containing Mexican beverage. But no, it’s Coke. It’s delicious. When it comes to fruit flavored sodas, I think pineapple takes the (upside-down) cake. Orange would have to be a close second.
When I was a kid, I used to jam on Andy Capp’s Hot Fries if anyone remembers those. I would always think to myself,”Why don’t they have more snacks in the fry shape?” It’s true, there aren’t enough fry shaped snacks. So if you can imagine a combination that contains the texture of Andy Capps Hot Fries and the flavor of Chili Cheese Fritos, what you have is Chester’s Chili Cheese Fries. While I am a fan of Fritos, especially the Chili Cheese kind, I am not a fan of the corn chip vessel that the flavor rides on. I mean, they are fucking delicious, but it’s one of those snacks that you get sick of half way through. Maybe it’s the oil content? No idea, but the Chester’s fries does not leave that nauseating feeling. The Chili Cheese flavor is definitely not as bold as the Frito’s, but that’s a good thing. The texture carries it perfectly and it’s an excellent balance, a great snack.
